Featured Research

Makerere University – INNOECOFOOD Project

INNOECOFOOD is an EU-funded project, led in part by Makerere University, collaborating with local partners like KAMOS fish farm to advance sustainable aquaculture in Africa. The partnership focuses on optimizing catfish/tilapia production, implementing solar-powered ECOHUBS, and using IoT/AI to improve efficiency. This initiative enhances food security and boosts local income through eco-friendly practices.

INNOECOFOOD project in partnership with KAMOS Agro Fish Farm

At KAMOS Agro Fish Farm in Buikwe District, the project has setup experimental cages and ponds to facilitate the project experimental activities. The cages and ponds would be used to cultivate tilapia, with the aim of establishing controls for growth rates in relation to fish feed. The project is establishing an ECOHUB which is sustainable, solar-powered facility for the production, processing, and marketing of aquaculture products, including Tilapia and catfish.
Also, INNOECOFOOD seeks to empower local communities by training farmers, youth, and women in sustainable, profitable aquaculture at KAMOS Agro Fish Farm.
INNOECOFOOD focuses on strengthening sustainable aquaculture across Africa, improving both nutrition and economic opportunities for rural communities.
